Tutorial "How to Place a S2G Digi on a Candle"

Ever see a cute digi image and think, "If I could only put it on a candle, it would make the perfect gift!" Well, I'm going to show you how!
You will need: 1 piece of regular copy paper, tissue paper, waxed paper, scissors, a glue tape runner, a white candle, a heat gun, and a S2G image that you have colored.

GENTLY roll dabs of glue dots around the two sides and the bottom of the copy paper. You do not have to place any glue dots at the top. Cut a piece of tissue paper that is slightly smaller than the copy paper and carefully place on top of the copy paper. Keep the tissue as wrinkle free as possible and smooth it on to the paper. The glue will hold the tissue paper in place so you can print on it without it getting stuck inside of your printer.

Scan your colored image and save it to a program. Choose a size for your image that will fit on the candle. I chose a wallet size and "shrink to fit" feature for the sunflower.

Place your paper in the printer, tissue side up. Be sure that the bottom of the paper that was glued, feeds through first. Then print.

After your image has printed, cut it out leaving a small border around the image. Cut through both layers. You do not need to remove the tissue from the copy paper before cutting.

Now you can remove the tissue from the copy paper. Remove it slowly, as some of the ink may have soaked through, and you don't want it to tear. You can see that some of the ink soaked through on mine.
Place the tissue image on your candle. Press it on gently and it should stay.

Cut a strip of wax paper that is a little taller than your image, and long enough to wrap around the candle. In the above picture, I am holding both ends of the wax paper, and the candle is in the middle.

Now for the fun part! Using a circular motion, blow hot air from the heat gun over the wax paper and the image. I started on the right side, If you look closely you will see that the upper right hand side facing you, is darker than the rest of the image. That is because the wax from the wax paper has melted on to the tissue paper, and the image is now adhered to the candle. Continue using a circular motion until the entire image is "melted" into the candle. The tissue paper just seems to disappear!

Remove the wax paper and you have a lovely candle!  You can "dress it up" a little if you wish, by adding a few Stickles.
Next time you need a WOW inexpensive gift, try making a digi candle. The person who receives it will be amazed at your creativity! Stop by the S2G Shop to find the sunflower digi and many more! The BOGO Clear Stamp Sale is in progress now! You don't want to miss it!

The Pixies "Go Crazy with Polka Dots"!

Do you LOVE polka dots? I do! When Kathy asked for suggestions for this month's challenges, I suggested Polka Dots! When my daughter was a senior in high school, we went shopping together for dresses to wear to her graduation. As we walked through various stores I would stop to Oooh and Ahhh over various dresses, and my daughter would quickly pull me away. My daughter said, "Mom, do you realize that every dress you stop to look at is polka dot? You have a closet full of polka dot dresses!" Guilty! I did! I didn't buy a polka dot dress for her graduation, I chose a flowered dress instead. Fast forward to the present, and I have NO polka dot dresses in my closet, although I do have a few polka dot tops and blouses! Hee hee! ;D

Last week I promised that I would show you another page for my Twi Book. Here it is! It was fun "Going Crazy with Polka Dots" for this week's Pixie Dust Challenge! I used three different polka dot papers plus polka dot ribbon!

The quote is from Eclipse. I printed it out and applied it to my hand drawn scroll. I found the mesh, sparkly, stretchy ribbon at Hobby Lobby and thought it was perfect to match the silver sparkles on the CS. I drew flames and cut them out of polka dot paper because Bella thought that Victoria's hair resembled flames. The red heart was cut out of sparkly red felt, and then the hand cut broken heart was glued on top. The heart symbolizes Victoria's pain at losing James, but it's also black because Victoria isn't very nice. :(
I hope you're ready to "go Crazy with Polka Dots"! Link your card up HERE, and you could win your choice of a Pixie Dust Digi and a Winner's Badge for your blog! Looking for inspiring digis? Stop by the Pixie Dust Studio and browse around! You won't be disappointed! Need inspiration for your project? The Pixies have lots to share! The links to their blogs are in my sidebar! It's a Color Challenge this week at S2G!

And the color is YELLOW! I chose a sunflower digi for this week. I decided to make a candle, gift box, and card.

I made three copies of the sunflower for the card, did some stitching on the DP, added a MS punched border, and pale yellow organza ribbon.

I found a candle at the Dollar Tree (one of my favorite places to go for inspiration :D) and added a sunflower to it.

Next I made a matching gift box to complete the set. I purchased the "Get a Handle on It" template from Papertrey Ink. I used Nesties and a Creative Memories Cutting System to cut the window in the box. Clear acetate was glued inside the window. The box was decorated with more digis and organza ribbon: my favorite!
I hope you'll enter this week's YELLOW challenge. Link your project HERE when complete. The DT have some inspiring samples for you! Check out their blogs! Their links are in my sidebar. Release Day for the new "Fun House" Collection at Pixie Dust Studio!

Today's the day you've been waiting for! The Fun House Collection is now available in the Pixie Dust Studio!
I have more peeks for you!

This image is "Ultimate Vamp Fan". See the photo in her hand? She is definitely "Team Edward"!
I used Basic Grey paper for the forest-scene and a MS punch for the fence in the Pumpkin Patch. The pumpkins were cut out of paper from The Paper Studio.

This image is "Just Batty". This card is also about as close as I can get to "clean and simple". LOL
I tend to be a fan of "More is More". I used a Fiskars embossing plate and my Cuttlebug to emboss the spider web on orange CS. I made the felt button and glued a spider  from a package of confetti on top.
Stop by and visit the rest of the Pixies to see what sneak peeks they have to share! You'll find their links in my sidebar. Tomorrow there will be a new challenge on the Pixie Dust Challenge Blog! I hope you'll come visit, and join in the fun!

Sneak Peeks for the Pixie Dust Fun House Collection!

Today is the first day of Sneak Peeks for the newest Pixie Dust Collection: Fun House!  I have an adorable couple to share with you today!

This is "Frankie". What's that in his hand? Is it candy corn or an engagement ring? I made the fabric button by cutting circles out of felt with my Cuttlebug and blanket stitching them together with embroidery floss, and then adding a button.

It must be an engagement ring. because the name of this digi is "Frankie's Bride". Every bride needs a tiara and a veil, and this bride is no exception. I used a MS spider web corner punch to make the tiara. The veil is made out of tulle with silver Stickles dots added for extra sparkle. The bats are confetti that I found at Michael's.
Want to see what else is new in the Fun House Collection? Take a look at the blogs of our creative DT. Their links are in my sidebar. Tomorrow is RELEASE DAY for the Fun House collection! Stop by tomorrow and I'll have more peeks for you!

Getting Ready for Halloween!

Hubby and I went out to dinner tonight at Cracker Barrel. I LOVE their gift shop! While browsing I found this adorable hat. I put it on and asked Hubby, "How do I look?" and he laughed and replied, "Ridiculous!"
A woman nearby came to my defense and said, "I think she looks cute!"
I thanked her, and then walked out to the car with Hubby. "You know what? I'm going back and get that hat!" I said. While walking back inside I saw the woman who said that the hat was cute.
"Are you going back to buy that hat?" she asked.
"Yes, I am!" I replied.
"Well, good for you!"
I really want that hat for Halloween this year. I take my grandson trick or treating, and it's always so much fun to dress up! My grandson loves the "The Incy Wincy Spider" song, so I know he will love Nana Cat's new hat.

Here is a closeup of the spider. After I purchased the hat, I put it on in the car. Hubby said, "Take it off before someone sees it!" Then he laughed and said that he was glad I bought it, because the next time we went to Cracker Barrel, it would probably be gone, and someone else would be wearing that hat instead of me.
I loved taking my kids trick or treating on Halloween. They were always so excited and it was so much fun seeing them and all of the other kids dressed up. I like it even more now. My daughter lives in a small town. The police block the main roads off on Halloween night, and the local kids go to each shop and trick or treat. All of the shop owners and most of the parents dress up too. It's one big party with spooky music being played, hot cider, cookies, apples, and of course, candy. So much fun!

I am so glad that I get to share the Halloween experience with my grandson. I think a part of me will never grow up! Hmmmm......I think I need a matching feather boa to go with the hat.......maybe a green one!

Pixie Dust "Pretty in Pink" Challenge!

The Pixies want to see Pink, Pink, and more Pink! for this week's challenge! So grab your pink paper and embellies and get started! We can't wait to see what you create! I chose the digi "In the Meadow" from Kathy's Twilight Collection. It's been colored up for a while. I was just waiting for the perfect challenge to showcase it! If you're a Twi Fan (isn't everyone?) you know that Edward revealed to Bella why he could never appear in sunlight when they spent an afternoon in the meadow.

I chose a quote from the book and printed it out on my computer. Then I applied it to a scroll that I drew. I also added "Icicle" Stickles to Edward's face and hand so he would "sparkle".
If you follow my blog, you know that I am working on a Twi Book featuring digis from Pixie Dust Studio. Today's page is my newest. It's taking a while to complete my book, but I am enjoying the process! I'll have another page featuring Victoria for next week's Pixie Challenge on August 19. Want to make your own Twi Book? Stop by the Pixie Dust Studio and take a look at the Twilight Collection. Kathy has many digis to choose from that will surely inspire you! Grab Your Notebook for this S2G Twisted Thursday!

It's Twisted Thursday at S2G! School bells are ringing! Have you purchased school supplies? I remember when my four kids were in school, and I would buy enough school supplies for the entire year! This week's challenge is to use "Notebook" paper on your card or project.

Here is my card for this week's challenge. Notebook paper has lines on it....Right? So I stretched my imagination and used paper that has lines on it! The tape measure paper is from Rusty Pickle. The lined ABC paper is brand new digi paper from S2G. I used a Cricut cartridge, Plantin Schoolbook, to cut out the letters and the apple. I hope you'll join us in this week's challenge. The S2G Shop has many digis for back to school and other occasions. Also the huge BOGO Sale is going on now! Buy one clear acrylic stamp and get one FREE! Need inspiration? Our talented DT has lots to share! Their links are in my sidebar. Link your card HERE, and you could win a digi of your choice and a Winner's Badge for your blog!
Did you know that S2G has a Tutorial page? You can find it HERE. See what you can do with S2G stamps beside just making cards. There are also some working with digi tips.
