It's a Softpencil First Birthday Blog Hop!

Welcome to Softpencil's First Birthday Blog Hop!
If you arrived here from the Softpencil Blog, then you're in the right place! If you just happened to stop by my blog, please start at the Softpencil Blog. After that, I'm first on the list!
Make yourself comfortable and have a cupcake. I made plenty!
Yum! Chocolate with buttercream frosting!
I made cupcake toppers using some of the Softpencil Gang. You can't have a party without cupcakes!
Each of the DT were asked to choose their favorite Softpencil digi to showcase during the hop. I chose "I Will Cook for You". It has a special place in my heart. It is the first image I used when I became a member of the Softpencil Design Team. Softpencil is also the first Design Team that I was asked to be on. I absolutely LOVE Elizabeth's images! They are all so adorable and cute!
This was the first card I made as a Softpencil Design Team Member.
Below is what I made for Softpencil's First Birthday. It's a clipboard recipe holder. I found the clipboard at the Dollar Tree, and I just had to alter it! I attached a wooden spoon (also from the Dollar Tree), tied it with a bow, and added the little Mouse.
Next I made a basket with one of my favorite templates from Papertrey Ink.
I think the little Mouse looks so cute on the front!
I can just picture this basket filled with chocolate chip cookies!
How would you like to have the digi "I Will Cook for You"?
All you have to do is leave a comment on my blog and wish Softpencil a Happy Birthday! I will randomly choose a winner of the digi. Each of the DT will also choose a winner from the comments on their blogs to win their favorite digis. The contest will end Sunday, May 9 at 8:00 P.M. (EST). Winners will be announced on Monday on the Softpencil Blog. Stop by the Softpencil Shop tomorrow to see the new release "Flowers for my Bunny Mom". It's being released just in time for Mother's Day!
Grab a cupcake, leave a comment, and hop on over to the amazingly talented Michelle's Blog and see which image she is showcasing. If you get lost during the hop, stop by the Softpencil Blog to see who's next on the list.

Pixie Dust on the Prarie!

It's time for another Pixie Dust Challenge! Have you checked out the Pixie Dust Studio? The new "On the Prairie" images are in! Today I'm showcasing "Ma and Pa".
The challenge is to use "Kraft" on your project. What is Kraft? It's brown paper. I used a brown paper lunch bag. I sprayed the paper bag with "Krylon Make It Acid Free", and adhered it to the top section of the card. Then I used a Fiskars Flower Punch to make paper bag flowers. They were then sprayed with Tattered Leather Glimmer Mist. I added buttons and twine. Stitching is faux. It's going to be sent to my oldest daughter whose wedding anniversary is June 25. This digi is perfect for them! DD loves gardening and DSIL loves the outdoors!
I hope you'll join us for this week's challenge. We'd love to see how you use Kraft on your project! Link your card at the Challenge Blog. Need some inspiration? The very talented DT have some gorgeous samples to show! Their links are in my sidebar. Take a look at the Shop. You'll fall in love with all of the adorable images!

S2G TT: It's All About Home!

This month's theme is "Home". What does home mean to you?
One, oh so true saying I think of is, "There's No Place Like Home!". You know it's from the classic story, "The Wizard of Oz". But why is Dorothy wearing two pairs of shoes? If you are a Purist, you know! In the book Dorothy's shoes were SILVER! I should know. I read the Wizard of Oz, out loud, every year for 24 years straight to my students! (Not the same ones! LOL...I had a new class each year.) If you haven't read it, you really should! Do you know how the Scarecrow came to be? Do you know that the Tin Man wasn't always made out of tin? These questions are answered in the book. My favorite chapter is about a little Porcelain China World that Dorothy visits near the end of the book. So many adventures that were not shown in the movie. Read it! It's never too late!
Dorothy wore red shoes in the movie. I have been told that the magic slippers change from silver to red in the book and the musical "Wicked". I need to check it out!
The challenge this week is to use the word "Welcome" on your project. Easy! Check out the projects the rest of the S2G DT has created! You'll be inspired by their creativity! Their links are in my sidebar.
Link your card using Mr. Inlink at the S2G Challenge Blog.  Two winners will receive two digis each and Winner's Badge for their blogs. You can find the digi I used and others for all occasions at the S2G Shop! Click your heels together and take a look!

Whoo Hoo! I'm a Pixie!!!!!

Whoo Hoo! I'm a Pixie! You know that Wendy (of Peter Pan fame) is my cousin! (That's what I always told my students! LOL)  Now that I'm a  Pixie, I guess I'm related to Tinkerbelle too! I was just thrilled when I got the email from Kathy asking me if I would like to be on the team! Of course I said, "Yes!" Today I get to preview one of the  upcoming new releases that will be available on May 3!

For my first posting as a new Pixie Dust DT member, I have a Sneak Peek for you: "Pocket of Love" from the new "On the Prairie" digis. Isn't it adorable? It's perfect for a little boy with the little frog and snake peeking out of the pocket. I know just the little boy that I'm going to send it to....my little three year old grandson! I paper pieced the pocket, traced the stitching with a silver gel pen, and added buttons tied with twine.

My grandson also loves anything with a handle that he can carry around. I found this cute mini lunchbox at a local Dollar Tree. It was decorated with hearts front and back (for Valentine's Day). I snapped it up, because I knew I would use it for something. Did I mention that I get a lot of inspiration from the Dollar Tree? There is always something there that needs to be altered! I covered it with DP from DCWV and Creative Memories.

I made a little pocket out of chipboard and covered it Bazzill CS, DP, and ribbon. The lunchbox is the perfect size to hold a box of crayons, some markers, and a small pad of paper, with room for a snack in the front pocket.

"Pocket of Love" also comes with a sentiment "Genuine Boy". I distressed the paper, and then glued it to DP, and placed it on the back of the lunchbox.

Check out the Pixie Dust Studio for more cute images and the new releases, "On the Prairie", on May 3. That's this Monday! Stop by here, and I'll have some more "eye candy" for you!
