Swirly Swirls this Week at Pixie Dust Studio!

The challenge this week is "Swirly Swirls" at the Pixie Dust Studio. I used the digi image "Baker Fairy" from the new Goodies Collection. Isn't she adorable! I think she will be perfect for Christmas! I chose Christmas paper, and because I love to bake sugar cookies, I added some mini cookie cutters to the card. The cookie cutters are from "Dress It Up". I hot glued a rhinestone to a button and placed it on the swirl at the top of the card.

Here is a closeup of the swirls. I used a Provo Craft embossing folder and then cut more swirls using my Cricut and an Accent Essentials cartridge.
I hope you'll join us for this week's challenge. Link your project HERE and you could win a digi of your choice and a Winner's Badge for your blog! Check out the DT's blogs! Groups I and II both have digis to showcase! The Pixie Dust Studio is full of inspiring digis! Zap yourself over and take a look!

It's an Orange and Purple Twisted Thursday at S2G!

The image I chose this week is BFF, "Best Furry Friend". BFF comes with THREE sentiments. The background DP is also from S2G. It's from the new Halloween digi paper collection and is available in the S2G Shop along with this image. It prints out so clear, clean, and crisp!
I tried something different this week when making the flower. I cut three scalloped circles and cut slits in them just like the spokes on a wheel. I covered the circles with "Glossy Accents" and let them dry overnight. The next day I curled the ends under with tweezers, poked holes in the centers, stacked them, and added a rhinestone brad to hold them all together. What do you think?
I hope you've enjoyed this month's Celebration of Critters and that you'll join us for this week's Orange and Purple Challenge. Link your creation HERE for a chance to win! Check out the blogs of the very talented DT for inspiration!

Trick or Treat!
It's that time of year again! Time to dress up and eat candy! This week's digi from Softpencil is "Trick or Treat". Such a fun image! I colored it with watercolor pencils and Copics.

I used my one of my favorite templates from My Timeless Templates at Papertrey Ink, "Pack a Picnic. DP is "Eerie" from Basic Grey.

Here is a closeup of the pleated flower that I made.

Digital Embossing? Now You Can with S2G!

Ever see a cute digi stamp and say, "Oh if only I could emboss it?" Having embossing withdrawal now that you switched to digi stamps? Well, help is here, because today I am going to show you how to emboss digital stamps! You will need:

One piece of copy paper folded in half, Wet Looks Embossing Markers, clear embossing powder, a heat gun, and a digital stamp. I chose S2g's Sheep and Bird.

Place the digi on top of the folded copy paper.

Trace over small sections of the digital image with a Wet Looks Embossing pen.

Pour some clear embossing powder into the lid of the container.

Sprinkle embossing powder over the part of the image that was just traced.

Gently tap the edge of the card, allowing the excess powder to fall on the copy paper.

Continue tracing small areas, applying embossing powder, and shaking off the excess until the card is embossed in the desired amount.

This is what the image looked like when it was covered in embossing powder. The line that the pencil is touching was not embossed.

When all desired areas have been covered in embossing powder, hold the paper so that the excess powder collects in the center on the fold.

Having folded the paper at the beginning of the process makes it so easy to pour the excess embossing powder back into the container when finished.

Now for the actual embossing. Hold the heat gun approximately six inches from the image, and using a circular motion, heat the image until it has a glossy finish. The part of the image that looks powdery has not yet been heated.

Here is a close up of the embossed image after it has been heated.

If you want to add more, it's not too late! I colored in the wool around the sheep's head, added more embossing powder, and heated it.

After embossing, I colored some areas with Copic Markers, and filled in the rest with "Fluff" mixed with glitter. Next time you want to emboss, try this technique! You'll be glad you did!

My Baby Got Married!

My youngest son got married almost three weeks ago. This is a picture of him and my new DDIL immediately following the ceremony.

This picture was taken in the garden outside the venue. It's so nice to have another "Darling" girl in the family!

This is the wedding cake that I made. The bottom layer is chocolate marble with a chocolate buttercream and chocolate chip filling. The top layer is strawberry cake with strawberry filling. Both layers were frosted with buttercream icing. I planned to make the ribbons and leaves out of chocolate, but I was unable to find cocoa butter. So I used sequined chocolate brown ribbon for the wide stripes, and satin brown ribbon for the narrow stripes. The ends were fastened together with a dab of Fabri-Tac. I purchased a small cluster of silk flowers, cut the leaves off, and painted the leaves with brown acrylic paint. The flowers on the cake were originally white. I sprayed them with Glimmer Mist and then inserted silver stems with crystals attached, into the cake. All stems were covered with floral tape before being inserted. Flowers, stems, leaves, and ribbon were purchased at Hobby Lobby. I purchased a bag of white rose petals from the Dollar Tree and sprinkled them on the table around the cake.
PETS ON PARADE!!!

S2G Birthday Twist with Critters!

Critters like Birthday celebrations just like people, and S2G is celebrating Critters and Birthdays this week!

I was given two digi images this week: "Pogo" and "Stash".

I made a card with Pogo. I love the sentiment. Pogo also comes with two additional sentiments. I found the birthday hat buttons from "Dress It Up" at Michael's. They were just the perfect size for my "Critters".

I made a Treat Pillow Box using "Stash". Isn't he just the cutest! I used the same DP for the card and box. The DP is from "Little Yellow Bicycle". S2G's DT is SALUTING the 'CRITTERS' in our lives...be they furry, fuzzy or even fluffy!
The sisters are RELEASING ALL NEW DIGI Stamps that have to do with our 'little 4-legged friends'.
Those sisters are going NUTS again with a fabulous BLOG CANDY package! Everything from ribbons to glitters! WOW!!!

We'll have 1 GRAND PRIZE WINNER of the blog candy and 3 critter digis ; and a 2nd place winner of 2 critter digis!

Here’s how to win….Grab your favorite furry friend and let’s go for a walk around the DT’s blogs! . . On the last stop you will be directed back to the S2G Challenge blog so you can leave us some love. The winners will be selected from the comments left on the Challenge Blog.

I was given the digi image "Pointer" for the Blog Hop. I laughed when I saw it, because if your Hubby is like mine, he hates to ask for directions. I have no problem at all. If I'm lost I just stop at the nearest gas station to find out where I need to go. Of course in this Techno Age, I have a new friend, "Tom-Tom" who usually tells me exactly how to get to my destination. I used dotted paper for this week's twist "Spots and Dots".
What I absolutely LOVE about S2G stamps are the sentiments! I used the same image, "Pointer", but a different sentiment to alter this journal. (I got the journal at Michael's for $.50! What a bargain!) "Pointer" comes with THREE sentiments! After the Hop, check out the S2G Shop. You'll find "Pointer" and all of his friends there! They would just love to be "adopted" by you!

**Don’t forget ** We also have our regular Twisted Thursday Challenge with the usual TWIST this week~ The TWIST this week is to use ...SPOTS & DOTS. Chances are better to WIN if you use a S2G DIGI or Clear Stamp. We'll also pick someone from this Challenge to Be a GUEST DT for a CUSTOMER BLOG HOP next month!
Ready for your next stop on your walk? Then head on over to my BFF Georgia's blog! I hope you had fun while visiting here! I hope you'll join us on September 23 for our SNR Digi Day!
