Digital Embossing? Now You Can with S2G!

Ever see a cute digi stamp and say, "Oh if only I could emboss it?" Having embossing withdrawal now that you switched to digi stamps? Well, help is here, because today I am going to show you how to emboss digital stamps! You will need:

One piece of copy paper folded in half, Wet Looks Embossing Markers, clear embossing powder, a heat gun, and a digital stamp. I chose S2g's Sheep and Bird.

Place the digi on top of the folded copy paper.

Trace over small sections of the digital image with a Wet Looks Embossing pen.

Pour some clear embossing powder into the lid of the container.

Sprinkle embossing powder over the part of the image that was just traced.

Gently tap the edge of the card, allowing the excess powder to fall on the copy paper.

Continue tracing small areas, applying embossing powder, and shaking off the excess until the card is embossed in the desired amount.

This is what the image looked like when it was covered in embossing powder. The line that the pencil is touching was not embossed.

When all desired areas have been covered in embossing powder, hold the paper so that the excess powder collects in the center on the fold.

Having folded the paper at the beginning of the process makes it so easy to pour the excess embossing powder back into the container when finished.

Now for the actual embossing. Hold the heat gun approximately six inches from the image, and using a circular motion, heat the image until it has a glossy finish. The part of the image that looks powdery has not yet been heated.

Here is a close up of the embossed image after it has been heated.

If you want to add more, it's not too late! I colored in the wool around the sheep's head, added more embossing powder, and heated it.

After embossing, I colored some areas with Copic Markers, and filled in the rest with "Fluff" mixed with glitter. Next time you want to emboss, try this technique! You'll be glad you did!

S2G Birthday Twist with Critters!

Critters like Birthday celebrations just like people, and S2G is celebrating Critters and Birthdays this week!

I was given two digi images this week: "Pogo" and "Stash".

I made a card with Pogo. I love the sentiment. Pogo also comes with two additional sentiments. I found the birthday hat buttons from "Dress It Up" at Michael's. They were just the perfect size for my "Critters".

I made a Treat Pillow Box using "Stash". Isn't he just the cutest! I used the same DP for the card and box. The DP is from "Little Yellow Bicycle". Zap yourself over to the rest of our very talented DT Ladies' Blogs to see more critters and be inspired to enter this week's "Birthday Critter" Challenge. DT links are in my sidebar.

Link your project HERE, and you could win the adorable S2G digi posted above and a Winner's Badge for your blog! Need some Critters? The S2G Shop has many to choose from that would love to be adopted by you!

S2G's DT is SALUTING the 'CRITTERS' in our lives...be they furry, fuzzy or even fluffy!
The sisters are RELEASING ALL NEW DIGI Stamps that have to do with our 'little 4-legged friends'.
Those sisters are going NUTS again with a fabulous BLOG CANDY package! Everything from ribbons to glitters! WOW!!!

We'll have 1 GRAND PRIZE WINNER of the blog candy and 3 critter digis ; and a 2nd place winner of 2 critter digis!

Here’s how to win….Grab your favorite furry friend and let’s go for a walk around the DT’s blogs! . . On the last stop you will be directed back to the S2G Challenge blog so you can leave us some love. The winners will be selected from the comments left on the Challenge Blog.

I was given the digi image "Pointer" for the Blog Hop. I laughed when I saw it, because if your Hubby is like mine, he hates to ask for directions. I have no problem at all. If I'm lost I just stop at the nearest gas station to find out where I need to go. Of course in this Techno Age, I have a new friend, "Tom-Tom" who usually tells me exactly how to get to my destination. I used dotted paper for this week's twist "Spots and Dots".
What I absolutely LOVE about S2G stamps are the sentiments! I used the same image, "Pointer", but a different sentiment to alter this journal. (I got the journal at Michael's for $.50! What a bargain!) "Pointer" comes with THREE sentiments! After the Hop, check out the S2G Shop. You'll find "Pointer" and all of his friends there! They would just love to be "adopted" by you!

**Don’t forget ** We also have our regular Twisted Thursday Challenge with the usual TWIST this week~ The TWIST this week is to use ...SPOTS & DOTS. It's Critter Time this Month at S2G!

We all have different "Critters" so stop by all of the DT's blogs to see what's new! Their links are in my sidebar. My critters are a sheep and a bird this week. The TWIST is to use "Flocking or Feathers".

I like to mix a little glitter with my flocking, and that's just what I did for the sheep. I like the sparkly look, and the pink reminds me of cotton candy! I also embossed my card. What? How did I emboss a digital image? I'll be posting a tutorial next week to show you how! I also did some zigzag machine stitching on my card.

Here is a closer look at the flocking and embossing. For an even closer look, double click. I hope you'll join us for this week's challenge and use flocking on your project. You could win your choice of digis and a Winner's Badge for your blog. See the Challenge Blog to increase your chances of winning when you upload your card.

Grab Your Notebook for this S2G Twisted Thursday!

It's Twisted Thursday at S2G! School bells are ringing! Have you purchased school supplies? I remember when my four kids were in school, and I would buy enough school supplies for the entire year! This week's challenge is to use "Notebook" paper on your card or project.

Here is my card for this week's challenge. Notebook paper has lines on it....Right? So I stretched my imagination and used paper that has lines on it! The tape measure paper is from Rusty Pickle. The lined ABC paper is brand new digi paper from S2G. I used a Cricut cartridge, Plantin Schoolbook, to cut out the letters and the apple. I hope you'll join us in this week's challenge. The S2G Shop has many digis for back to school and other occasions. Also the huge BOGO Sale is going on now! Buy one clear acrylic stamp and get one FREE! Need inspiration? Our talented DT has lots to share! Their links are in my sidebar. Link your card HERE, and you could win a digi of your choice and a Winner's Badge for your blog!
Did you know that S2G has a Tutorial page? You can find it HERE. See what you can do with S2G stamps beside just making cards. There are also some working with digi tips.

Engagement Party with Decorations Inspired by S2G

My baby boy is getting married! My future DIL LOVES elephants, so the theme for their engagement party was easy! I was inspired to use "Love Comes in All Sizes" for the decorations for the party. Pictured above is the cake topper.

For table decorations I used picture frames from the Dollar Tree with pictures of my son and his fiancee. They were decorated front and back.

Instead of a guest book, I made cards for each guest to write their best wishes on for the couple.

I bought Bic pens and covered them with green florist tape. Flowers were hot glued to the top, and I placed a pearl or a rhinestone in the center of each and placed them in a flower pot.

I bought bubbles (also from the Dollar Tree) and decorated them.

Here is the finished cake: all four tiers! I colored the icing for the stripes with Wilton food coloring and then applied Wilton colored sugars on top. The cake was alternate layers of marble cake with chocolate and chocolate chip filling, and white cake with strawberry filling. Delicious!

The theme of the party was "All You Need is Love", and the invitations had Peace Signs on them. I was trying to think of some way to tie elephants and Peace Signs together. I decided to make sugar cookies with Peace Signs on them.

Here is a picture of the happy couple about to taste the cake. We blew bubbles as they cut into the cake. What a fun party!

Hints for Decorating
When you need to make a lot of decorations for a party, the easiest way to do it is color your digi and then scan it. You can then pull it into a photo program for resizing. Then just cut the digis apart and apply to your decorations.
Warm Weather Icing
On the Wilton site there is a recipe for "Warm Weather Icing". I always use the Wilton Buttercream Icing recipe when I make a wedding cake. The warm weather version adds two Tablespoons of flour and five teaspoons of Dream Whip. I had trouble finding Dream Whip. I wasn't even sure if it was still being made. It's a powder, and I found it at Kroger. The frosting tasted the same as always, and was even creamier with the Dream Whip added. It's been so hot here, and the icing really held up well on the forty minute trip to the venue. (Of course we turned the AC up full blast in the car LOL) Another tip: ALWAYS use clear vanilla when making frosting.

We're Celebrating Babies on this S2G Twisted Thursday!

June is the month for Brides and Babies, and we're starting off with Babies! Babies are arriving in my family this year! My daughter is expecting her second child in the Fall, and my neice is expecting her first child, a boy, this month. I made this cute little *baby carriage for my neice's shower.
The image is Little Buck-a-roo" and it comes with two sentiments.

Here is a closeup of the digi on the front of the carriage.

I used one of the digis from "Buggy" for the back.

I typed the "Baby on Board" and added it.

From the side, you can see the wheels. I layered CS and added buttons and ribbons. I used a Fiskaris scalloped punch for the trim around the hood and sides of the carriage.

This week's S2G TT Challenge is to make a card or project and use the color BLUE. Two winners will be selected who will each receive two images and a Winner's Badge for their blogs.
Link your card HERE. There are some adorable images in the S2G Shop. Hop on over and take a look! Also, all clear stamps are on sale for only $2! For inspiration, stop by the rest of the DT's Blogs and take a look at their gorgeous creations!

S2G Twisted Thursday: Welcome Spring!

It's Twisted Thursday! The challenge this week is to make a "Spring" card, and the Twist is "Flowers". There so many Spring images in the S2G Shop to choose from, and each of the DT members got to pick which ones to work with this week. I have two projects to share with you today.

The first is a card I call "Spring Has Sprung". I chose the S2G digis "Pansy" and "Bugs". I remember using this same quote on bulletin boards during my teaching career. My BFF, Georgia, who is also a former teacher, once said that cards were like mini-bulletin boards. So I guess teaching prepared us for cardmaking! LOL! I embossed pink CS that was placed behind the pansy. Pop dots were placed under the cute little bugs to add dimension.
CS is Bazzill. DP is DCWV "Flower Shower" from The Spring Stack. Punch is MS, and ribbon is Hobby Lobby.

I used the same "Pansy" digi to make this plate. The image was colored with Vitrea Transparent Markers that I purchased at Michael's. This plate is dishwasher safe! I actually found it in the Bridal Section at Hobby Lobby. It's a dessert plate! I'll post a tutorial later this week and give you all the deets on how to make your own.
I hope you'll join us this week as we celebrate "Spring with Flowers". Post a direct link to your card on the S2G Challenge Blog. You could win your choice of two digis and a Winner's Badge for your blog! Speaking of winners....All of the March TT Winners and the April in Paris Blog Hop Winners are now posted on the Winners' Page. Check out the S2G Shop! Have you picked out any of the new "April in Paris" digis? I still have some on my "gotta have" list! Take a look at the DT's Blogs!
