"Spooky" this Week at Pixie Dust Studio!

I didn't think I could make a posting this week. But I can be spooky after all! I somehow managed to stab a safety pin into my thumb! The swelling has gone down, and it's no longer throbbing. Luckily I had most of these elements already colored and decorated, so all I had to do was glue them together. So here is my post...better late than never. This was the centerpiece for a Halloween Baby Shower.

I used My Time Made Easy templates to make the baby buggy and pumpkin: Bouncing Baby Buggy and An Apple a Day. A strip of CS was folded into a triangle and glued to the back of the witch so she could stand.

I used "Baby Boy" from the Oh, Baby Collection to make a "Punkin Baby".

Day 14 of a Pixie Christmas!

Today is Day 14 of a Pixie Christmas! "I is for Inside the Sack".  And look what's inside! An adorable Raggedy Ann doll! I have fond memories of Raggedy Ann dolls. My favorite aunt was an excellent seamstress. Every time one of the neices or nephews welcomed a new little one into the family, my aunt would present them with a handmade Raggedy Ann or Andy doll. My aunt has since passed, so my sister carried on the tradition when my first grandson, her first great nephew, was born. Raggedy Ann and her friends are available in the Pixie Dust Studio now! Hurry on over and take a peek!
Tomorrow is the final day of a Pixie Dust Christmas :(  I'll have one more peek for you then, when "O is for......"  Stop by tomorrow to find out!

Finally Clean!!!

Hubby said that I should be embarrassed to win a "Messy Desk" Contest! I did feel bad enough about it to clean up the mess. Here is the result:

I'll try to keep it clean and neat, but I shouldn't make any promises just yet! I need to finish a card for tomorrow. The 15 Days of a Pixie Christmas continues tomorrow! Stop by the Pixie Dust Studio to see all of the amazing images Kathy has created for "the most wonderful time of the year"! Stop by here tomorrow for my post. Hope to see you then!

"Embarrassed Winner"!

Splitcoast Stampers had a contest this weekend for the messiest desk. As soon as I saw the announcement on FB I grabbed my camera, ran into my craftroom, and snapped this photo. This is really what my desk looked like. Nothing was added to the confusion.

Holey Moley! I was ALMOST too embarrassed to post it, but hey, it was a contest! So here goes! I was the winner! I had been working on cards, Halloween costumes, an anniversary gift, and Christmas decorations. Everything just ended up getting shoved aside so I could begin the next project, and this was the result. Now that you have seen my embarrassing secret I will be forced to clean it up. I have been fighting a sinus infection all weekend, but I will continue to sort out this mess! Hope to post an "after" picture soon!
BTW My prize was two digital images from The Greeting Farm!

It's a Birthday Challege at Pixie Dust Studio!

We all need birthday cards in our card stash! I am especially short on cards for boys.

That's why I chose Captain Jack Sparrow from The Pearl Collection. The flower was made by pleating CS and placing it on top of a Nesties scalloped circle. Then a button was glued on top.

Guest Designer at "Digital Delights"!

My Not So Scary Haunted House was chosen #1 at the Digital Delights Challenge last week! I was invited to be Guest Designer this week.
I chose "Tiny the Turkey". He's hoping he will be around after the holidays. LOL This digi comes with a blank sign, so you can add any sentiment you like (which I did). The image was colored with Copic markers.
My card also fits this week's challenge: Colors of Fall. What will you create? Enter your project HERE.

Pretty Patterns Sketch #31 at "My Time Made Easy"

My Time Made Easy is having a DT call! This time there are six sketches to choose from. This was my choice:
And my card......
The flower was made from a recycled dryer sheet. It was sprayed with Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist, cut out, and Stickles were applied to the edges. The center was stitched and a rhinestone was popped in the center. The gold leaves were from the after Christmas sale at Michael's. CS is Bazzill. DP is Anna Griffin, K and Company, and The Paper Studio. Ribbon is organza (my favorite!) from Hobby Lobby.
I distressed the DP edges with Rouge ink from Color Box. The stamps are from the Tea for Two set from Papertrey Ink. Lavender ink is Stampabilities. Pop dots were placed under the sentiment and the teapot. Such a fun, feminine card to make! There's still time to enter! What will you make?

Ladybug, Ladybug, Fly Away Home....

.....or at least to my daughter's house! My sweet granddaughter who will soon be one year old is going to be a ladybug this year on Halloween. I found the most adorable Ladybug costume for her at Cracker Barrel (one of my favorite restaurants). My daughter has loved ladybugs for a long time. They seem to follow her around and bring comfort during stressful times (almost like Guardian Angels.)
I decided to make a Ladybug costume for my daughter. I bought a plain Tshirt and cut off the neckband forming a scoop neckline. Then I stitched on cording to finish it off. The skirt was made by looping strips of tulle over an elastic band, and then safety pinning the elastic ends together. Completely No Sewing required for this part.

Next I made flower for the shirt. Tulle was gathered and then topped with a bow and a ladybug button.

I twisted pipecleaners and hot glued pom poms onto a headband. I made another tulle flower similar to the one on the shirt and glued it to the headband to add a little extra bling.

A Ladybug needs wings. I used wire coathangers to make the wings and covered them with red sparkly tulle. I used Fabri-Tac to hold the tulle in place and to glue on the spots. The circles were cut out of black felt using Nesties and my Cuttlebug. The wings are currently in two pieces because they are too big to transport. They need to be duck taped in the center. I'll cover the tape with red ribbon and add two lengths of ribbon so the wings can be slipped over the shoulders.

This project was completed in two days and cost under $20. I can hardly wait to give it to my daughter!
DD wanted a costume to go with Ladybugs for my almost 5 year old grandson. I suggested a Bug Catcher with a Safari hat and a butterfly net. It was quickly vetoed by DGS who said he wants to be a Super Hero. I guess Super Hero is more exciting than a Bug Catcher! LOL

ABC Challenge at Pixie Dust Studio!

15 Days of Pixie Christmas post is below this one.
It's an "Anything But a Card" Challenge this week at Pixie Dust Studio! My FAVORITE kind of Challenge! This is what I've been working on the past few days. Hubby wanted me to make a Haunted House, and this is what I came up with. I bought a paper mache house at Hobby Lobby. It was plain brown, like a paper bag. All of the edges, doorway, and window frames were painted with black acrylic paint. I chose DP (from Archiver's)  and paper pieced the entire house.

The "trees" are black pearls on stems. I hot glued orange "Got Flowers" to them and placed a dab of black Stickles in the center.
The front.  "Unwelcome Mat": "Enter if You Dare" LOL  The pumpkins are "Dress It Up" buttons.
Left side. The fence and spider webs in the windows are MS punches.

Right side. I placed pop dots behind all of the characters.
 The back.
The roof. I folded some CS and placed it behind the witch, so she could stand on the roof.
The roof is removable. I placed two battery operated votive candles inside so it can be lit up.
Spooky!!!
Here is a collage featuring all of the elements.
